Smart Contact Reminder helps you stay in touch with important people in your life. It does so by reminding you to contact people you haven’t spoken to for some time. But how can it know it’s the right time to remind you? It combines the information of how often you’d like to be reminded and the last time you were in touch with that particular person. However, logging past contacts can be tedious. Sometimes we might even forget to do it completely. That’s why Smart Contact Reminder comes with a way to automate contact detection on your Android phone. That way you can focus on your social interactions and we take care of the contact logging for you.
How can it help you?
With automatic contact detection, you no longer have to worry about having to remember to log past contacts. The app monitors your system notifications and when it determines that you’ve been in touch with a contact you’ve added to Smart Contact Reminder, it logs this automatically for you. It doesn’t matter if you’ve phoned them, texted them or sent them an e-mail.
After enabling the feature in app’s settings (you can find it in the “Contact logging” section), the detection algorithm runs in the background and creates logs for your contacts automatically.
If there is a new log, the app notifies you once a day and asks you to review them. You can add your notes (such as what was the news so that you remember easily next time you speak) or edit the log. The next reminder is automatically rescheduled.
Try out the contact detection yourself
The automatic contact detection is a premium membership feature. However, we believe you should know what it offers before buying. That’s why we’ve implemented a feature preview in version 2.2.0, which allows free membership users to try out automatic detection for a single contact of their choosing.
There are no other limitations and the contact can be changed any time. If you then decide you’d like to the app to help you automatically detect and log all of your contacts, you can subscribe to the premium membership with confidence.
How does it work?
When you enable the automatic contact detection, Smart Contact Reminder listens for system notifications (e.g. WhatsApp, SMS message or e-mail notification). It then tries to find your contact’s name or one of the defined aliases in the title in order to determine the sender. Linking contacts with your phone book also helps the autodetection algorithm to improve its accuracy.
If a match is found, Smart Contact Reminder automatically creates a contact log (only one contact log will be created for each contact per day).
What about privacy?
In order for this feature to work properly, Smart Contact Reminder has to be granted permission to access notifications. You will be taken to the appropriate settings screen when enabling this feature.
You don’t have to worry about your privacy as all your data stays on your phone and even the detection algorithm runs only on your phone.
